Coming up this month...

WORSHIP MEETING. The Worship and Music meeting will be at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, February 6.  Please note the time change.

MIDWEEK WORSHIP CONTINUES.
IGNITE is a different kind of worship service than our traditional Sunday morning services.  It is lead by guitar (and other random instruments depending on the week), no bulletins rather a projected display and a teaching lesson instead of a sermon that will be based on what the confirmation students will be learning that week.  We are still serving Holy Communion and taking Offering all of which will be done by our confirmation students.  Everyone is welcome to attend this worship!  It will begin at 6:15 p.m. and last approximately until 7 p.m.

SWEETHEART SUPPER!  The annual Sweetheart Supper is right around the corner.  On Saturday, February 11, at 5:30 p.m., all sweethearts, young and old are invited to share in good fellowship, a potluck dinner and the ever popular Newlywed game.  Please sign up in the narthex and bring a dish to pass.

FO.GA.MO MOVIE NIGHT.  This month for Fo.Ga.Mo we are gathering to watch the movie, "Secondhand Lions!"  Please join us on Sunday, February 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for the movie and a potluck meal.  No need to sign up, just come!  Everyone is welcome!

LENT BEGINS WITH ASH WEDNESDAY ON FEB. 22. Our Ash Wednesday service will be Wednesday evening, February 22, at 6:15 p.m.  It is the day that we traditionally use ashes to mark our foreheads with the sign of the cross and share in Holy Communion.  We do this as a sign of repentance, renewal and to mark the beginning of the Lenten season.

YOUTH CHILI SUPPER. Our youth will again be serving a chili supper that evening starting at 5 p.m.  The menu includes chili, fruit salad, rolls, cheese, crackers, chips, brownies/cake, milk and coffee.  The cost for this event will be adults - $6, children ages 5 to 12 - $3, and children under 4 are free.

BUTTER BRAID PASTRIES. The Bethany Youth will be selling Butter Bread Pastries starting February 22 through March 7!  Each braid is $11 and comes in many different flavors.  Braids will be delivered on March 21, just in time for Easter Breakfast!  Keep an eye out for sellers on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS. The Fellowship Committee is looking for groups of folks willing to host a Lenten Soup Supper.  This has become a Bethany tradition and the fellowship our members gain from being together is awesome.  This year the suppers will be held from 5 - 6 p.m. with the Lenten Worship Service to follow at 6:15 p.m.  We are asking for volunteers to prepare and serve.  If you are willing to donate toward the cost of preparing these meals or serving and clean-up, please see the sign up on the kiosk or call Ruth Marose.  The soup suppers will begin on Wednesday, February 29, and run through March 28.

CONFIRMATION LOCK-IN. Confirmation students - it's finally your turn for your own lock-in!  We will be hanging out all night at church beginning Friday, February 24, at 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 25.  Sign up on the Youth Bulletin Board if you plan to attend.  Friends are always welcome!  If you are an adult who would like to spend a few hours with these caffeinated students, please sign up on the kiosk for a block of time.  We also need people to serve meals at midnight and in the morning.

MIDWEEK LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICES. Starting February 29, we'll be holding midweek Lenten worship services every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.  This year at our worship services we will sing Marty Haugen's Holden Evening Prayer.  The meditations will focus on Jesus' response to the question, "Which commandment is the first of all?"  Jesus' response comes from the words of the Shema, the passage in Deuteronomy 6 that is recited daily by many of our Jewish brothers and sisters.  Each week a different meditation will be focused on.

THE HAT & MITTEN TREE IS UP!
We've put the hat and mitten tree up in the narthex, and it's waiting for your donations to fill it up.  The hats and mittens you donate will be taken to West Side Elementary School and given to children who need them.

COOKBOOKS STILL AVAILABLE!  The Grace Circle cookbook project has come full circle.   The price of the cookbook is $8.  Get the cookbook and learn to cook like a pro or just learn to cook!  Checks for the cookbooks should be made out to Bethany Lutheran with "cookbooks" noted on the memo line.  Get yours today!

COFFEE HOUR SIGN-UP POSTED. The coffee hour sign-up sheet is posted by the serving window in the kitchen.  We are looking for volunteers to team up and provide 6-8 dozen bars, cookies, muffins, or donuts and beverages between services.  If you would like to help with this hospitality ministry, please pick a spot on the chart. Thank you.

WEAVING HOPE NEWSLETTER.  Full-color newsletters from Dr. Mike Soderling in Guatemala are always on hand in the narthex.  A sample copy is posted on the missions bulletin board with additional copies available in the brochure rack.
