Coming up this month

PICTURES. See the Photo Gallery page on this website to see pictures of the end-of-year choir picnic and Bethany's National Honor Society inductees.

SUMMER SCHEDULE.  Our summer schedule will begin on May 25 with the following worship service times:  8 AM - Early service; 9 AM - Fellowship Coffee Hour and adult forum; 10 AM Late service.  We take a break from Sunday school in the summer; however, adult forum will continue and will be held in the church lounge.

PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY SUNDAY IS JUNE 1.  We invite you to bring your jars of peanut butter and jelly to church on Sunday, June 1 to help our Summer Lunch Program get off to a strong start. -- Needed:  As in the past, we'll be looking for volunteers to help prepare and deliver the sack lunches to the Mauston parks.  If you'd like to help in any way, please contact Mary Pirwitz.

\ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BIBLE STUDY?  If so, please contact Pastor Stake or the church office (847-6690) and express your interest.  We are meeting on Thursday evenings  from 6-7 PM.  We will be studying Jesus' parables.

ADULT FORUM. Adult Forum continues to meet Sunday mornings between services from AM in the lounge. We are discussing the living of our Christian faith in a difficult world through the perspectives of Scripture and relevant articles.

REGISTRATION FORMS FOR SUGAR CREEK BIBLE CAMP. The registration forms for Sugar Creek Bible Camp are here, and you can pick one up from the brochure rack in the narthex. Bethany provides $175 camperships to our members to make camp more affordable. Contact your friends and sign up as soon as you can, because some of the programs fill up quickly.

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM POSITIONS AVAILABLE. We've hired a person to be the Food Prep Manager, and we still need to hire someone to coordinate volunteers and deliver meals to the sites from June 16 through August 15.  Call Mary Pirwitz for further details.

THE STEER PROJECT. Sugar Creek Bible Camp is sponsoring another Steer Project this spring. We've hung our steer poster on the tripod in the narthex. Each space on the steer costs $15. We'd like to purchase a steer that the camp staff can pastur over the summer and sell in the fall. The proceeds from the sale of our steer will go toward program improvements at the camp and will also help to offset camp fees. Please make your check out to Bethany and mark "Steer Project" on the memo line. Our goal is to have each space on the poster filled by June 1. Thank you for your help!

VBS NEWS.  This summer's VBS program is planned for June 29 - July 2 from 6 - 8 PM.  The theme is Friendship Trek.  During VBS the kids will discover new friends and build a powerful relationship with their forever friend, Jesus Christ.  Bible stories, crafts, games, songs, and snacks will "hike" them through God's Word.  VBS is for all kids age 3 by September 1, 2008, through kids who will enter grade 6 this fall.  On our final day of VBS we are hoping to have a night out on the lawn.  We're planning a potluck picnic under the stars with a mini-concert by the kids, hot dogs, smores, and an open campfire.  We would love for the whole congregation to join in.  Sign up on the clipboards on the chair of the display.

RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM MEMBERS WANTED.  The Bethany Relay Team is asking for more participants to help in the fight against caner.  This year's Relay for Life fundraiser is planned for July 25-26 at the Mauston High School track.  Team members are encouraged to raise $100 and to give an hour or two of exercise (that's the relay part).  For more information, contact team captains Molly Shultis or Pat Tabbutt.  Sign up sheets will soon be available in the church narthex.
